Money calculators
Ten tools, no email address, no bank connection and no account. Every one shows its assumptions, and the arithmetic behind them is covered by automated tests that run on every deploy.
They work in dollars, pounds or euros. The switch changes the symbol on your figures rather than converting them — there is no exchange rate involved, because the arithmetic that matters here is the same in every currency. The one exception is the travel budget calculator, where you supply the rate yourself.
Financial independence
The three that answer “when can I stop”. All of them work in today’s money, so the answer means the same thing in dollars, pounds or euros.
FIRE calculator
Work out your FIRE number, the year you reach it, and what a pension or a one-off cost does to the date. Real terms, so it works in dollars, pounds or euros.
Coast FIRE calculator
Find the point where your invested money is enough to grow into retirement on its own, and you only have to cover this year. Works in dollars, pounds or euros.
Net worth calculator
Add up what you own and what you owe, and see the figure that actually matters: how much of it could fund a year of not working.
Month to month
Where the money goes now, and what to do about the parts that are not working.
50/30/20 budget calculator
Split your take-home pay into needs, wants and savings, then compare it against what you really spend. Works in dollars, pounds or euros.
Emergency fund calculator
Size an emergency fund off your essential outgoings rather than your whole lifestyle, see how many months you already have, and how long the gap takes to close.
Debt payoff calculator
List your debts, add whatever extra you can pay each month, and compare the snowball and avalanche methods side by side — including when they come out the same.
Growth and goals
What money does over time, forwards and backwards.
Compound interest calculator
See what a lump sum and a monthly contribution grow into, and how much of the total is interest rather than your own money. Dollars, pounds or euros.
Savings goal calculator
Work out how long a savings goal takes at your current pace, or how much you need to put aside each month to hit a date. Dollars, pounds or euros.
Inflation calculator
See what an amount will be worth after inflation, and what you would need in future to match it. Both directions, in dollars, pounds or euros.
Travel budget calculator
Plan a trip in two currencies at once: daily costs at your destination, one-time costs at home, and a safety buffer on top.
Why these are free
A calculator behind a signup wall earns no links
These exist because they are useful on their own, and because a page that answers the question it was searched for is the only kind worth publishing. There is no email capture on any of them, and there will not be.
The app is not out yet. TLDR Money International is in build for the United States and the United Kingdom first, on iPhone and Android.
